Today I got to meet the team I will be working with at Immigration New Zealand and to see my office space. I think they were way too kind to me to give me a nice corner space with a window! Judi Altinkaya has been my primary link there, and she is so nice. She introduced me to the others that I will work with - Ann Marie, Susan, and Anna. There will be others - some in Auckland, and one or two still on holiday.
Judy took us to lunch at a nice tapas restaurant. After that, Dick and I walked along Oriental Bay (south end of Wellington). It was a beautiful day, with the usual wind. The water temp was a crisp 16 C. I keep thinking that we will be in that water in a couple weeks for the open water dolphin swim... We also found an indoor pool and rec centre where I could do laps. That water is a much more comfortable 27 (yes, you have to get used to metrics on this blog!)
We found a nice place where we plan to have dinner tomorrow right on the water. On Friday we will be bringing our extra luggage to Judy's and having dinner with her.
I am loving the fact that we are walking miles every day, probably averaging about 10K/day. At the end of the afternoon I can feel pretty spent, but I'm rejuvenated and ready for more by the next morning. I haven't had a break like this in decades. I do have a bit of a hard time just relaxing, but I am enjoying my attempts at it! :)
