This morning we took the cable car incline to Kelburn and
spent a couple hours wandering through parts of Wellington Botanical Gardens.
They are beautiful, as exemplified by the 100 photos I took of trees, giant
ferns, hydrangeas, succulents, herbs, roses, and much more. The harbor view
from the top of the cable car is also amazing.

From there, we walked east through an historic cemetery,
then south to meet a realtor to check out an apartment high-rise. The flat we
liked on Taranaki St is on the 14th floor, with a beautiful harbor
view. It is about half the size of the place we like on Mt. Vic, and not much
character; $495/week. It does have an elevator, is a bit closer to work, and
there is a gym and lap pool. Currently it is second on our list; Mt. Vic is our
top choice if we can determine that there is furniture and the ceiling leak
will be fixed.
We wandered back with our sore feet (we walked 5-6 miles
today, I’m guessing). After a break, we decided to go to a Japanese fusion
restaurant for take-out food (getting tired of $100 dinners!) The food was disappointing,
but we saved some money. It will be great to get into a place and be able to
cook our own meals. Restaurants are really expensive. I’m about ready to go for
McDonald’s (yes, McDonald’s…) salads for dinner.
